The AUSTRALIAN ENTERTAINMENT
'MO' AWARDS Inc.

March 2019
Thanks to everyone who attended our AGM on Monday March 11th. Also a huge thank you to Penrith RSL for providing us with the room. It was a night filled with discussions and healthy debates on where the Mo’s are and what we should do in the future.
The new board were congratulated on their positions, and the board now consists of:
Chairman: Marty Morton
Vice Chair: Colin Hindmarch
Secretary: Jace Pearson
Treasurer: Cliff Corton
Committee: George Siedlecki, Carmel Ager, Llynda Nairn, Gordon ‘PINKY’ Fellows.
One of the main topics for debate was “should we close the Mo’s”? Unfortunately, as most of you will be aware, some of our predecessors have tarnished the reputation of The Mo’s and the Mo’s is facing great competition from other similar awards, which did not exist when we were originally founded.
The discussions lead to 2 options.
1: To fix the The Australian Entertainment ‘MO’ Awards, a lot of energy will need to be put in by the board and it’s members to try and restore it to it’s previous glory.
2: To close down the The Australian Entertainment ‘MO’ Awards
Option 2 might sound a little drastic to some, but we need to be realistic about the past few years, the damage that has been caused (is it repairable or not?) and the future ahead.
This outcome needs to be voted on upon all members. It was unanimously agreed, that those present alone should not make the decisions for the entire future of the Mo’s.
So the vote is down to you – our members.

The current board believes in total transparency, and any results from the above will inevitably lead to more meetings and more votes from you about how to proceed.
***Voting will close April 30th 2019.

FIGHTING FOR JUSTICE
At our AGM, it was unanimously agreed upon that the Mo’s need to fight for justice against the “alleged” actions of previous board members.
We now have a copy of The Gamble Report, which was hidden from members by previous boards. This report was paid for by the members, therefore, if you wish to see a copy, please contact the secretary for details.
The Gamble Report as well as other information gathered by the board, has been passed onto a solicitor to help guide us, and legally bring justice to the wrongs done to us in previous times.
If you believe you have any information to help in this matter, please contact the secretary.
We will keep all members updated on our progress in this matter, but please understand it will take time. Thank you in advance for your understanding.

VALE
Jimmy Parkinson
Well known Australian vocalist Jimmy Parkinson sadly passed away in the
early hours of Monday morning.
Jimmy was a fabulous, easy listening crooner who captivated audiences
through the 60s & 70s & 80s on many television shows including his own
'Jimmy Parkinson Show' on Channel 7.
Jimmy will be sadly missed not only by audiences, but entertainers &
singers who shared the stage & studios with him.
He was an inspiration & mentor to many up & coming vocalists & performers.
The entertainment world will be missing a lot of well-constructed musical
phrasings, delightful notes, great talent & a friend.

Doug Jansen
It is with great sadness we learn of the passing away of well known
guitarist, Doug Jansen on Sunday the 24th of March.
Doug, was not only musical director for Dinah Lee, but he managed & accompanied
Sir John Rowles & the late Gene Pitney.
Doug, will always be remembered, for not only his musical talents,
but his crazy antics & wonderful sense of humour.
Our thoughts are with his wonderful, dedicated & loving partner, Dinah.
